Why different plant sizes?
PB3Long Vetiver plants are large fast growing plants. They are more robust for dry weather establishment. Pb3long plants install into a trench. Available September until March.
Bio bag Vetiver plants are faster and easier to install using the Rapid Planter auger attached to a rechargeable drill. Especially useful for planting on slopes. Freight cost is considerably lower. Available late November until February.
We take care to supply plants at the correct stage (the roots grow fast). Ordering in advance is preferred but not essential. For commercial orders over 500 plants, please phone for pricing – 0212051387
We have been taking your order in trust since 2012. No deposit is required.

Water on arrival
Kill all grasses and weeds in the vetiver planting zone. If possible 3 to 4 weeks before planting as this would allow a follow up spray to ensure all weeds are dead.
- Soak the vetiver plants under nitrosol water ( nitrosol is a soluble blood and bone fertilizer ) for over 20 minutes. Do not just soak with a hose. The plant bag must be submersed.
- Dig a trench a spade width x 15 cm deep. Sprinkle blood and bone along the trench.
- Remove the plant bag and place the plants at 20 cm centres i.e. 5 per metre. This may feel too close. Be assured this is correct as the roots need to interlink at the correct rate.
- As vetiver roots grow quickly any plants with advanced root systems need be carefully opened using your fingers. If the roots are bound simply cut an X trough the root base. The roots will re grow correctly.
- Once plants are in position fill around the plants with soil.
- Normally there is no need to water them again. Watering maybe required if it is a dry season.
- A small amount of annual maintainence makes a big difference. Every spring trim the Vetiver hedge to knee height, sprinkle blood and bone and remove any weeds.
